Greensomes League 2024
Thanks to Fiona Robertson from Newbattle for taking on the role of Greensomes Recorder, and Fiona provided the following report.
Overview
The 2024 Greensomes season for the Midlothian County Ladies Golf Association showcased the competitive spirit and camaraderie among the participating teams. This year, the competition was structured into two divisions: the Quaich, featuring nine teams, and the Trophy, which had eight teams. 14 clubs were represented.
Challenges
This season was not without its challenges. Several matches were postponed due to adverse weather conditions, and unfortunately, one match had to be abandoned on the day. We faced the disappointment of Deer Park not being able to field a team this year, but we remain hopeful for their return in the future.
Trophy Division (8 Teams)
Congratulations to Ratho Park, who emerged victorious in the Trophy Division with an impressive 11 match points and 15.5 game points, winning 4 of their 7 matches and drawing 3 so no losses. They demonstrated consistent performance throughout the season.
Ravelston 2 finished in a commendable second place, also securing 11 match points but with 14.0 game points, demonstrating the competitiveness of the division. Mortonhall 2 rounded out the top three with 10 match points and 10.5 game points.
Quaich Division (9 Teams)
In the Quaich Division, Merchants 1 claimed the title with 12 match points and 14.5 game points, winning 6 of their 8 matches, showcasing their prowess throughout the season.
Following closely was Glencorse, finishing second with 9 match points and an equal 14.5 game points. Murrayfield and Kingsknowe also had strong showings, tying with 9 match points each, adding to the competitiveness of the division.

A special thank you is extended to Jane Bruce of Murrayfield for her invaluable assistance during the handover of the Greensomes Recorder role to Fiona. Her support has ensured a smooth transition and continuity for the league.
Conclusion
The draw for the 2025 season will be issued at the October Committee Meeting and communicated to Greensomes Reps thereafter.
Overall, the 2024 Greensomes season was as ever full of great competition as well as meeting with old friends and making new ones. We look forward to next season, with hopes for continued growth, increased participation, and perhaps even some sunnier weather!
